Astronomical mode uses the equinox or solstice moment. Meteorological mode uses the first day of the three-month seasonal period. Choose the definition above.
Northern or Southern Hemisphere?
The seasons are reversed between hemispheres. Choose the hemisphere for your plans; the timezone alone does not select it. Local weather does not always follow a four-season pattern.
