Astronomical dates are calculated locally with Astronomy Engine. Meteorological seasons use fixed month starts.

Which start of the season is used?

Astronomical mode uses the equinox or solstice moment. Meteorological mode uses the first day of the three-month seasonal period. Choose the definition above.

Northern or Southern Hemisphere?

The seasons are reversed between hemispheres. Choose the hemisphere for your plans; the timezone alone does not select it. Local weather does not always follow a four-season pattern.

Why can the date differ by timezone?

An astronomical season begins at one global moment. That moment can fall on different calendar dates locally. The counter displays the date and time in your selected timezone.

Date reference: Official event or calendar information.
